The men’s facial hair trend, which includes long, overgrown beards, has been “in” for a while. Hipsters – who have been sporting beards like Santa Claus – have been fueling the growth of new Indie grooming brands that market all types of new men’s products, such as beard oil.

Razor companies have no doubt been waiting for clean-shaven styles to be “in” again — and Braun predicts this will happen in 2017, if men start listening to women’s preferences.

Braun recently conducted an online survey asking more than 4,000 women about men’s grooming trends and their preferred styles for men. (Braun recruited Ketchum Global Research & Analytics and Vitreous World to conduct the survey. Participants were women aged 18-55 living in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and France.)

  • 42% of women identified stubble as their preferred look for men in 2016, while 51% said they preferred men’s faces clean-shaven.

  • 55% of women said they want the men in thier lives to sport a clean shaven look in 2017.

  • 61% of women have revealed that this Christmas they’d much rather share a festive smooch with a clean shaven guy, whilst a mere 1% would opted for a man with moustache.

Braun’s UK grooming expert, Parsa Rad comments: “Facial hair has been big over the past few years, with the lumberjack beard, and goatee… As we start to look ahead to 2017, beards are looking less full, with sharp, clean lines – even disappearing altogether.”

Braun is also promoting its new range of four multi-grooming kits, which feature two improved beard trimmers with up to 39 precision length settings for ultimate precision and 100% styling control.
